I moved to Montréal from Toronto for a job. I needed French fast — not in two years. Berlitz got me to working B2 in 14 weeks. My colleagues can’t believe I learned it that quickly.

FAQ

Common questions

Everything you need to know before booking your consultation.

Where is the Berlitz Montréal centre?
+

Our language centre is in downtown Montréal on Rue Sherbrooke, a short walk from McGill, Peel, and Place-des-Arts metro stations. Easy access from Laval via the Orange Line, Longueuil via the Yellow Line, and West Island via the commuter train.

Do I need prior French to join?
+

Not at all. We welcome complete beginners through to advanced speakers. Your free placement test determines the right level, whether you arrive with zero French or conversational skills from high school immersion.

Can Berlitz help me pass a Francisation or TEFAQ exam?
+

Yes. We offer specific preparation tracks for TEFAQ, TCF-Québec, Francisation-Québec, and Bill 96 professional French requirements. Your instructor knows the exam formats, marking criteria, and where candidates typically lose points.

How long will it take to become conversational?
+

With our morning intensive (15 h/week), most students reach a working A2 in 3–4 weeks and B1 within 8–10 weeks. Evening classes (4 h/week) typically take 12 weeks for A2 and 20–25 for B1. Private one-to-one can cut these timelines in half.

Are classes available in English for instruction?
+

Our consultation and onboarding are available in English, French, or Spanish. Inside the classroom, the Berlitz Method is full immersion — your instructor speaks only your target language, from the very first minute. This is what makes the method so effective.

Is employer or government funding accepted?
+

Yes. Berlitz Montréal is a recognised training provider. We work directly with employer budgets, Services Québec, and the Ministère de l’Immigration (MIFI) for eligible newcomer programs. Your advisor will walk you through funding options during your consultation.
